I can totally see where you’re coming from here. But, as someone who almost never runs pre-written adventures, it doesn’t bother me. Could you not just use dnd’s worlds and lore with pathfinder’s rules?

@@ConstructedChaos yes works in rl but not in online systems like roll20 and others. Rewritting is a lot of work and it's incredible convinient if you don't have to rewrite each monster you want to use or have to find an equivalent for it and some D&D monster are even trademarked so you have to search the internet realy hard for an pf2 version what can take like 20min for a good version of it or you write a new one what takes like 30 min too. So for me I chose convience over quality. Also pf 2 isn't perfect, it has it's flaws. So i'm working at the moment on a version that combines things from different systems I adore.

@@finkelkop7204 ahhh I see where the problem comes in then. Well, we did at least see some of the new dnd rules trend a bit towards PF2 so hopefully that helps ya!

I don’t see why that wouldn’t work! Fighter is great for casters that want to pump out extra spells with action surge and sorcerer does a similar thing with their sorcery points and quicken spell. Plus, sorcerer still uses charisma as their spellcasting stat!

@@ConstructedChaos Wonderful. Glad my musings are met with agreement from a more veteran dm as well :D Calculating spell slots once sorcerer is hitting the mix will be a pain, but oh well. At least I don't have to worry about wasting multi attacks, haha.

@@olafgurke4699 sorcerer and warlock is actually a pretty common combo! I’ve got a build somewhere on the channel that actually does sorcerer, warlock, and fighter. Honestly, Paladin would have done okay there too!

Never actually stopped to think about it but rolling two dice and taking the lowest means the lowest number is the most likely. Neat!

@@ConstructedChaos same thing with advantage and nat 20. For probabilities you're almost always better off with an advantage than a +, unless that + is really big

Thanks Angel!! I really appreciate the accolades. It means a lot coming from such an expert world builder and DM like yourself! So, we’ve actually NEVER name-dropped the setting before. The continent is Roria but the world is called Solhèm-a setting defined by its place beneath the light of the sun and stars. I built a calendar system for the world as well a while back that now includes references to both the sun and the scar in the sky that appeared at the start of the current era!

Oh, and “villain”-ish is the best way to describe it! Doing the right things the wrong way and for the wrong reasons! Haha

I called it a small stream but I’d made a point earlier in the session that the water was moving quickly. We were running this as a chase complication during a chase scene so the check wasn’t to see if they made it. The check was against getting across in enough time not to lose movement due to difficult terrain!

Honestly, it was a long day. I’m doing my best to laugh about it now that we’ve taken care of the danger but I was pretty upset for most of the day leading up to last night. Long story short, a power company refused to trim a tree from a power line in my back yard after being asked repeatedly to do so and the tree caught fire today. When the power company came they said “it just wasn’t a priority” and I lost my mind haha.

Based on what's in the playtest, they have no intention of removing the bit about not adding your modifier to the second attack. So, since nick is just making the dual wielding mechanic use one action instead of an action and a bonus action, it seems you still wouldn't add your modifier to the second attack.

You aren’t wrong! I honestly use the long jump rules so rarely that I tend to forget about them haha. That said, this character only had a 12 STR and the river in the video isn’t to scale. It’s more for a little visual flair in the short itself!

@@ConstructedChaos ah makes more sense but you should try to use them more since its one of the only perks of high strength so by not using them or forgetting them you nerf strength even more then it already is compared to dex

Hey friend! I'm sorry to hear that all the info is taking the fun out for you! I mention in the video several different druid mechanics that can feel broken at times. Most of it revolves around wild shape. Wild shape is great for tanking, infiltration, etc. and you can even wildshape items you're carrying into yourself--making it exceptionally easy to steal a large sack of gold or to sneak the party's weapons into an area. There are lots of possibilities here! Happy adventuring!

It actually makes more sense than you’d think. Imagine if they rolled low. They wouldn’t be sure if they knew this person or not-preserving an air of mystery around them. Sometimes knowing what you don’t know is just as valuable as knowing what you do.

@@ConstructedChaos I disagree. The roll is only worth it if you have some kind of knowledge on that person. If you don’t then knowing you know nothing or being kinda sure you know nothing is still nothing………. The roll was kinda pointless I would have just said no you don’t recall this person. Save time and prevents people feeling like their rolls are pointless. But different strokes for different folks I suppose

@@itzmeagain291 I understand your reasoning here but I prefer to run it this way for the reasons stated before. The roll wasn't pointless and we all got a good laugh out of it anyway haha. If she hadn't rolled well, she would still be unsure about if this character was from her past or not. She was a child when she last came to this area in the campaign so it's reasonable that she may not remember everyone there. Now she KNOWS that she never met this person as a child.

@@joeleeth296 It was not an impossibility. An impossibility implies the inability to succeed the check. They succeeded and got information. In much the same way, I might have a player roll insight to see if an NPC is lying to them. If they roll well, they might find that the NPC was being completely truthful and was not lying. It isn’t necessarily an interesting result but it is knowledge that they didn’t otherwise have and giving this information without a roll might not be as challenging for the players.

Haha I probably could have given a little more info but asking for the roll is still important here in case they roll low enough and aren’t sure if they knew them.

It’s not really the same thing. But, regardless, a nat 20 doesn’t auto succeed. In this case she succeeded the roll. It just so happened that she didn’t know the individual in question.

@@ConstructedChaos fact. Nat 20 is only automatic success on hitting someone. In social interactions, nat 20 won't make queen of entire kingdom sleep with you and make you into consort after dropping a one liner on her and seduce roll It means she will chuckle and think you're a charming jokester

I don't often think of bards as evil but I love this idea. I could see a bard operating right under the party's nose, presenting themselves as an ally for a long time before they realize they've been betrayed!

Haha maybe I should've given her something pertaining to their appearance and a bit of information she might have had about any holy symbols they carried.

Haha I appreciate the insight here but honestly, it was just because most of my audience plays D&D and most of those viewers wouldn’t click on a video without it relating to D&D in some form. I wanted to make some Pathfinder content and this is how I had to do it. To test my theory, I eventually made a PF video without any reference to D&D and it performed horribly 🤣
